Wood protection for timber façades
A timber façade must stand for decades. SiOO:X bonds silica chemically to the fibre, keeps the façade breathable and delivers a controlled, even silver patina instead of patchy degradation.
THE ORIGINAL SILICATE WOOD PROTECTION SINCE 1994
What determines a timber façade's service life
Breathability
Moisture must be able to leave the construction. A film-forming layer traps it and damages the timber behind.
Chemical bonding
Silica reacts with the wood fibre and builds a mineral network inside the timber — not a layer on top of it.
Maintenance without stripping
Because no film is formed, nothing has to be scraped or sanded off before the next treatment.
How to treat a timber façade
Cladding and façades = 2 coats Wood Protector + 1 coat Surface Protector. This differs from decking.
Coverage, cost and intervals
For 100 m² of façade: roughly 20 litres of Wood Protector and 9 litres of Surface Protector. Factory-applied cladding reaches up to a 15-year interval before full renewal. Calculate exact volumes in the calculator or produce a project specification in the Spec Generator.
Frequently asked questions about façade protection
Why two coats of Wood Protector on a façade?
Cladding has a larger exposed surface per volume of timber and needs a higher silica load to build a complete mineral network. Decking takes one coat.
How long does the treatment last?
Up to 15 years before full renewal on a correctly applied façade, with light maintenance in between.
Can the façade be coloured?
Yes, SiOO:X Premium Color is available in Nordic shades for cladding and façades.
Does it work on factory-treated cladding?
Yes. Many suppliers deliver pre-treated SiOO:X cladding from the factory — see the partner portal for industrial applicators.
